Meet Amber Pennyfeather-Williams
Born & raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, Amber has been dancing for practically all her life. She began at the young age of three, starting in the Perth Amboy recreational program. From there, the instructor of their dance program drafted her to be in his pre professional dance academy, Acrodanse Theatre Academy. Under the direction of Michael Gary, the Artistic Director, Amber received training in all different genres of dance, from Ballet, to Modern, to Hip Hop, Ethnic dancing, Jazz, Gymnastics, as well as Liturgical dance. Amber trained at this academy up until her graduation from Matawan Regional High School.
Throughout her years at the academy, Amber performed up & down the East Coast, in a vast number of regional & national dance competitions, community outreach performances, collegiate showcases, recitals, workshops, etc. At the age of 14, she had already served as an assistant instructor to her mentor, & continues to the present, where she has taught & is teaching classes of all ages & all genres all over New Jersey. Upon graduating high school, Amber attended Mason Gross School of the Arts within Rutgers University from 2007-2011, where she studied & performed the works of Randy James, Jeff Friedman, Urban Bush Woman, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Jose Limon, Doug Varone, Batsheva Dance Company & many more. Amber graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance in May of 2011 & served as a dance instructor at the New Jersey Youth Theatre from 2011-2013 & also serves as a substitute dance instructor for many other dance studios across the state. She has a passion for the art of the instruction of it to young people as well. She hopes to one day open her own academy internationally & share her love of dance with the world.
