Marla Itzkin

Director of Communications & Development

Marla joined the Westfield Area YMCA in 2009 in the membership department and very soon after moved to Marketing and Communications. She was became the Assistant Director in 2013 and Director in 2015. In 2022, Marla’s role grew to also include the annual, capital and endowment campaigns, grant writing, fundraising events, strategic planning, community and international partnerships as the Associate Director of Communications & Development.  She was promoted to her current position in February 2024.

Prior to her YMCA career, Marla was the Member Services Director at the JCC of Central NJ after a decade in account management at major advertising agencies working with clients such as AT&T and Andersen Consulting.

Marla has a B.S. in Management, Concentration in Marketing from Binghamton University and a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.  She is a CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) and holds various YMCA Leadership Certifications.  She has assisted the NJ YMCA Alliance on statewide projects including Healthy U and 7th Grade Initiative.  She is also a committee member of the NAYDO (North American YMCA Development Organization) Conference on YMCA Philanthropy.

Marla enjoys working at the Y because she feels she has a direct and positive impact on the community in which she lives and works.
