Research shows children who participate in after school programs are healthier, more successful in school and more likely to engage in positive behaviors. When kids attend after school programs at the Y, they improve their study and reading skills, develop character and build healthy eating and physical activity habits.

Our day includes homework time and assistance, free choice, snack, small group & individual projects, and indoor/outdoor activities in the learning areas of arts & humanities, character development, health, wellness & fitness, literacy, science & technology, service learning and social competence & conflict resolution. Vacation Fun Club days are available for an additional fee when there is a scheduled full day or half day off from school.

Before and After School Care for Grades K-5 (Westfield, Garwood, Mountainside)

Each program is available 2, 3 or 5 days a week (Garwood is available 2, 3, 4 or 5 days)

Before Care 

Garwood: 7:00am at Lincoln School

Mountainside: 7:15am at Beechwood School

Westfield: 7:15am at Main Y Facility 

Westfield children are currently bussed to McKinley, Tamaques and Jefferson Schools in time for start of the school day.

After Care 

Begins immediately after school with pick up any time until 6:00PM.  Available at Main Y Facility, Westfield Schools (see below for details), Garwood (Lincoln and Washington Schools) and in Mountainside (Deerfield and Beechwood Schools)

Westfield After Care Program Information

Main Y After Care includes bussing from Franklin, Jefferson and Tamaques Schools only.  In addition to the program, students may register for classes offered at the Y between 4:00-6:00pm such as instructional swim or sports. Our staff will escort your child to class.

After Care is also available at Washington, Wilson, Jefferson, McKinley, Tamaques and Lincoln Schools. Parents enjoy the convenience of pick-up at their local school and receive the same level of care and structured stimulating activities as students at the Main Y Facility.
