Research shows children who participate in after school programs are healthier, more successful in school and more likely to engage in positive behaviors. When kids attend after school programs at the Y, they improve their study and reading skills, develop character and build healthy eating and physical activity habits.

Our day includes homework time and assistance, free choice, snack, small group & individual projects, and indoor/outdoor activities in the learning areas of arts & humanities, character development, health, wellness & fitness, literacy, science & technology, service learning and social competence & conflict resolution. Vacation Fun Club days are available for an additional fee when there is a full day off from school or half day.

Before and After School Care for Grades K-5 (Westfield, Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside)

Each program is available 2, 3 or 5 days a week (Garwood is available 2, 3, 4 or 5 days)

Before Care begins at 7:00AM at Garwood Family Center YMCA (Lincoln School only), and at 7:15AM at the Main Y facility, and in Mountainside at Beechwood School only.

After Care begins immediately after school with pick up any time until 6:00PM.  Available at Main Y Facility, Westfield Schools (see below for details), Garwood Family Center YMCA (Lincoln School and Garwood), and in Mountainside (Deerfield and Beechwood Schools)

After Care at Main Y Facility/Westfield Schools:

Program includes bussing from Franklin, Jefferson, and Tamaques Schools only.  In addition to the program, students may register for classes offered at the Y between 4:00-6:00pm such as instructional swim or sports. Our staff will escort your child to class.

Program is available at Washington, Wilson, Jefferson, McKinley, Tamaques and Lincoln Schools. Parents enjoy the convenience of pick-up at their local school and receive the same level of care and structured stimulating activities as students at the Main Y Facility.
